Cold Rolled Steel Strip

Cold rolling is carried out on up-to-date mills fitted with automatic gauge controls. The annealing process, carefully adjusted and carried out in modern furnaces, imparts uniformity and consistency, resulting in superior structural and surface characteristics. This same level of care continues through to slitting methods which produce strip with burr-free edges. Applications which use cold rolled strip include knife blades, hacksaw blades, spring fastenings and components and precision pressed, drawn and formed parts for automobiles, domestic appliances and electrical equipment.

Hardened and Tempered Strip

Hardened and tempered strip is purpose made so that optimum metallurgical and mechanical properties can be attained. This type of strip offers superb uniformity to a variety of applications, principal among which are narrow bandsaws. We are leading supplier to producers of narrow bandsaws all over the world. Trident Black Label (.75/.85%C) and Green Label (.98/1.05%C) strip is universally accepted for the purpose of making bandsaws to cut wood, meat, fish, frozen food, cloth and other materials.

Pink Label Pinpoint Carbide Steel Strip

Strip has been to provide a 1.25% C material ideally suited for the manufacture of the highest quality carbon metal cutting bandsaw blades. Pink Label's superior properties are achieved by a unique annealing method, which produces a consistent, fine pinpoint carbide size, compared with normal batch annealing. This consistent structure coupled with consistent hardness, offers significant benefits in the manufacture and use of both flexback and hardback blades. The advantages to the saw blade manufacturer are an optimum balance between cutter wear and freedom from burr when cutting the teeth and maximum throughput speeds when hardening. The finished blades benefit from a high resistance to wear and tooth chipping, which provides improved cutting performance, and a low hardness drop adjacent to the butt welds, giving a significant improvement in fatigue.

Gold Label Bi-metal Steel Strip

Gold Label Bi-metal is a composite strip, developed to provide a saw blade with the teeth possessing the hardness and wear resistance of high speed steel, and the back having the toughness, fatigue resistance and weldability of a medium carbon alloy steel. The unique advantage of Bi-metal over non-composite strip is that it permits the differing properties required in the cutting edge and supporting back to be accurately achieved by heat treatment of the toothed blade as a whole. This produces bandsaw blades with uniform depth of tooth hardening and very consistent properties, whilst the relatively small proportion of edge material enables the use of more exotic grades of high speed steel than would be practical with a non-composite strip.

In addition to bandsaw applications, Gold Label Bi-metal is also available in holesaw, power hacksaw, hand hacksaw and reciprocating saw sizes and the high quality special alloy backing material is available as a cold rolled strip to manufacturers who produce their own bi-metal.

Cold Rolled Steel Strip

A unique range of precision cold rolled strip in thicknesses from 0.40mm (0.0157 in) up to and including 8.0mm (0.3150 in). Combined with the facility to supply coils with an outside diameter of up to 1650mm (65 in) the Company offers a precision steel strip which ideally satisfies the demands of high volume component production. Strip is supplied with a bright surface finish and to dimensional tolerances closer than standard in a wide range of mild, medium carbon, high carbon and alloy grade strip to recognized international specifications.
